Healthy Lunches

Dear Parents / Carers,


We thought that you might like to look at this check list before preparing your child’s lunch.  Lunch is such an important meal for growing youngsters and as such we encourage you as Parent/ Carers to ensure that your child’s lunch contains a meal that is nutritious, fun and easy to eat.


Here is a simple check list to ensure that you are providing your child with the best lunch.


Have you included


  • A good portion of starchy food e.g. wholegrain bread/pitta pocket/rice


  • Plenty of fruit/vegetables e.g. apple/banana/satsuma


  • A portion of dairy food e.g. cheese/yoghurt


  • A source of protein e.g. chicken/fish/egg/humus/vegetarian


  • A  drink e.g. fruit juice/semi skimmed milk/water
