Events for parents

We look forward to welcoming you to our events at school. There are lots of opportunities for you to visit and be involved with Chapel Street life! Every month we hold a coffee morning/afternoon, which is an informal opportunity for you to come along and talk about your views, ask questions or just have a coffee and a chat. Dates/times are varied each month to allow more people to attend, so please check the calendar for details.

Every term, each class/Year group look forward to putting on an assembly. The children love sharing their work and we hope that you are able to attend. Please check the calendar for the dates of each assembly.

Dates of other events such as Parents’ Meetings, School Fairs, Sports Days, etc, are also detailed in the calendar section. Please note that these dates may occasionally be subject to change, and if this is the case we will give you as much notice as possible.

Easter Crafts Day

We had a really fun, craft-filled final day of term. Thank you to all of the family members who came to join in with Easter/Spring craft activities throughout school. What a lovely way to finish another very busy term!

"It's a bit tricky because I have 3 children in school, but my wife and I are taking turns to visit each classroom. I love coming in to do activities with the kids." (Parent)

"It's fun coming in to help and I like bringing my little one, who will be starting in the nursery in September." (Parent)

"This is not always my favourite kind of event, but I actually loved it today. The children and parents had such a lovely time and so did I!" (Teacher)

"It was organised chaos in Reception (with about 50 people in my classroom, thanks to wonderful support from my parents!) but lots of fun. I was lucky enough to visit lots of other classes in school too and was so impressed with the calm, purposeful manner in which the children and adults worked together on some fabulous projects." (Teacher)

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who came to the Macmillan Coffee Morning on Tuesday 25th September. It was lovely to see lots of familiar faces and some new people too. I'm sure we all enjoyed having cake for breakfast! Special thanks to Alisha Haughey for organising the event and to the staff and parents who bought/baked cakes. We raised £250 for a charity that is close to the hearts of many of us - thank you for your support.

We hope to see you at our next coffee afternoon on Thursday 19th October at 2:30pm.

Reception Reading Workshop

We were overwhelmed by the support from parents/carers at our recent workshop. The children loved shared reading activities with their parents/carers and we received lots of positive feedback from the people who attended. We look forward to welcoming you to our Maths lessons next month.

Pumpkin Competition

Maths Week

Thank you to everyone who attended a maths lesson during 'Open Maths Week' in November. It was fantastic to have so many people joining in with the children's maths activities throughout the week, and we know from the feedback you provided that it was a really useful experience.

Please see below a selection of comments from parents regarding maths week:

I think that the involvement of parents during their child’s classroom activity informed them about their progress and I have learned that maths should be taught in an interesting way. These sessions could be held once a month, if possible. (Reception parent)

It was good to see the tools that are used and how explaining the basics is so important. (Year 1 parent)

It was good to learn your method because we use a different method. (Year 2 parent)

It was useful to find out the different techniques to work out multiplications, and now I can use these at home. (Year 3 parent)

Christmas Assemblies/Nativity Plays

The assemblies and Nativity plays were a wonderful celebration of all of the children's hard work throughout the Autumn term. As always, the assemblies were very well supported by family members and we enjoyed meeting you all in the run up to Christmas.
